This is a project using a recycled item. An old barrette covered with denim fabric wasn't being worn so I decided to give it a new life.
The denim fabric covering the barrette clip was removed and replaced with white clay. (easier said than done) The skull was stamped on the clay and then i sprinkled some clear embossing powder over the image. When the clay baked the embossing powder melted over the whole clip which made it glossy - an unexpected surprise.
Unfortunately, the barrette dropped on the floor before we took the photo so you might notice the crack in the photos. If you can't see it, I won't tell you where it is.
Happy Thanksgiving, Gobble gobble.

p.s. In case you are wondering the gold glass object in the photos is a star shaped placecard holder that we are using to hold daily numbers. The numbers came from a sheet of paper given to me, thank you Terri. I'm using the numbers so I don't forget what day I am on and when I upload the photos I get the right ones to the correct post.
The barrette is so rockin'...can't see the crack...sweet art. Jean

ReplyDeleteFabulous re-purposing. I think it looks gorgeous and the cracks could even make it look vintage. Thank you for sharing your talents.

This project rocks! Do you stamp on the uncooked clay and then bake? I just want to make sure I read it correctly because I really want to give this a try. You have totally inspired me :)
